Talk B17 x FORBES : “Investing in Art”
Directrice, Ceysson & Bénétière Luxembourg
Director Benelux, The Fine Art Group International Specialist, Post-War & Contemporary Art
Director, Luxembourg Art Week
CEO - Forbes Luxembourg
Can art be considered a genuine asset class? And if so, how do you choose wisely?
Just days before Luxembourg Art Week, the next Talk B17 x Forbes will look at the art market from a distinctly business and investment perspective.
Buying art for pleasure does not prevent collectors from considering its value. How do you identify artists and works with long-term potential? How is the price of an artwork established? What roles do galleries, art fairs, auction houses and specialist advisers play? How should a collection be built, and what place can art occupy within a diversified portfolio?
Investing in art also means understanding a highly distinctive market, where quality, rarity, provenance, reputation, trends and networks all influence value. The potential for appreciation can be significant, but selection is crucial.
To explore these questions, B17 and Forbes Luxembourg bring together three professionals working at complementary points of the art market: Mélanie de Jamblinne, Director of Luxembourg Art Week, Clémence Boisanté, Director of Ceysson & Bénétière Luxembourg, and Pauline Haon, Director Benelux at The Fine Art Group and International Specialist in Post-War & Contemporary Art.
The conversation will range from discovering artists and acquiring works to building a collection, assessing value, navigating the secondary market and understanding the changing expectations of collectors.
The Talk will be moderated by Pierre-Yves Lanneau Saint Léger, Director of Forbes Luxembourg.
The discussion will be held in French.
